RE: deer meat question

I haven't heard of that. What we do is put the meat in a cooler with ice and salt water overnight or longer. This doesn't freeze the meat but it does help get the blood and gamey taste out.

RE: Single Vehicle Crash US 23

He was driving alone? I am familiar with that part of 23. I'm going to get flamed for this...but I, personally would not allow my 81 year-old Father to haul a 30 foot trailer on the highway. Especially alone. I know that there are a lot of you "mature" RVers out there that are capable of driving and towing, but there are some 81 year-old drivers who should not even be driving a car. My neighbor is her 80s blind in one eye and still driving. At least 2 times she has missed her driveway and ended up in the ditch. I would hate to see her try to tow something. On the other hand she used to teach at the segregated school and is now going back volunteering and telling the kids about what it was like back then so I commend her for that, just wish she would get a ride.

RE: South Carolina Campgrounds near I-95

don't laugh but the campground at south of the border is nice as a stop over and it is very easy to figure out how far away it is.

RE: Tent Camping 1st time in Years

I only use the tent on cub scout outings. I keep trying to convince them my TT is a tent on wheels but it hasn't worked yet. This weekend is going to be one of those and it is supposed to rain all day on Saturday!

RE: Travel Resorts

I am also a member, we live 45 minutes from the sycamore lodge and go there quite frequently. I bought my membership off of ebay for $100 and the dues are about 400 a year. I don't remember the exact amount. I also have the cheapest most basic plan because I was just looking for somewhere to go on the weekends with a pool and a place for the kids to play. I can add the coast to coast at any time but haven't because most of the places we like to go aren't on there. If i want the full hookup I have to pay an additional $2 a night but since I am usually just there on the weekends I just dump when I leave.

RE: Havelock, NC area

Never heard of Long Creek,is it new? We've lived in nearby New Bern for 38 years and never heard of it. Flanners Beach isn't bad unless there is a fish kill, you never know when that is going to happen though, but they are usually in the summer when oxygen levels are low. We have ridden by but never stayed at Goose Creek Resort at Newport 8.63 miles from Havelock according to RVPark Reviews, but no recent reviews.Could your son ride down and check that one over for you? Hope you have a nice visit! Dianne I have been to goose creek and my boss has a perment place there. It is nice. The sites are close together and most of them are for permanent sites.

RE: Sunchaser Awning Tube installation

I installed an 8500 over the weekend. It had cotter pins in each ends and we took them both out. It took some good tugging with a pair of pliers to get them out.

RE: Awning Situation

from my experience I just had the same thing happen except that mine broke the roller and the hardware. I upgraded to the A & E 8500 plus which has an automatic rain dump. It is basically a hydraulic piston that if too much weight is on it will automatically lower one side. I will also put it up back crooked but it nice to have that added security because accidents do happen.

RE: Arrowhead in NC

As far as the dirt road to the cg, I did the same thing some others mentioned, I went in the wrong way and yes it was about 4 miles of gravel road. Take the north entrance off Hwy 109 (Mullinix Road) and it is only 1/2 mile of good wide gravel road near the end into a beautiful paved cg with paved sites. I'll have to look for that road next time we go. I agree it is a great campground.

RE: Campground Greensboro NC Area

Here again south of town, but you could try Oak Hollow lake campground in High Point. It is just a short drive up 68 back to the airport.

RE: Charlotte NC area fuel (available)

The governor was on the News last night saying things should be back to normal in 3-4 days. Of course it is hard to believe any politician.

RE: Should we go? Worried about gas

GA, SC, NC and VA are getting their deserved spanking from panicking over a hurricane 1200 miles from them. And, gas wholesalers should be strung up by respective States' AG's offices. There was no shortage, as tankers were diverted from the NE and EU. My friend Abraham was on one of them a couple of weeks ago, when this nonsense started. These are independent stations willing to take a risk at your expense. It's your decision to support them or not in the future. NC is investigating price gouging. Even though the hurricane was 1200 miles away, we still get our gas from there and the turned the pipeline off.

RE: Central NC Gas Availability

I haven't heard about Asheboro, but the pipeline comes in to Greensboro so you should be able to fill up there. I got Diesel Last week. The first station I went to was out the 2nd one was good.
